Site Guidelines
General Rules
- We Kindly ask you to dress and behave respectfully.
- Do not step or walk on the mass grave.
- Eating or drinking is not allowed around the mass grave area or in the memorial exhibition. You are invited to visit the beverage store where you can rest and enjoy refreshing drinks. Please keep silent.
- Pet are allowed on the grounds but off-limit on the memorial building and exhibition.
Accessibility
- Most of the site at Choeung EK Genocidal Center is wheelchair accessible (including the bathrooms).
- We also provide wheelchair and walking cane as needed.
Camera Policy
- Outdoor filming and photography on the grounds is permitted and free. As you take photos, we kindly ask you to be considerate of other visitors.
- Professional media must acquire permits and accreditation from appropriate government institutions
- The ministry of information (Cambodia) and Phnom Penh Capital Hall.
- No drone zone
GETTING AROUND ACTIVITIES
- Participate in mourning and dedicating to spirits of all victims by offering flowers and lighting incense
- Sticks and candles in accordance with Khmer culture and tradition.
- Mediate to liberate all victims spirits of those who had been murdered in the memorial area.
- Walk through the green plant corridor.
- Release stress by viewing scenery of large paddy fields and lakes of the Mekong region in the rainy season.
- Take photographs of the Memorial Charnel and various special places of the site.
- Take photographs of the Memorial Charnel at sunset
- Take photographs for memory with Choeung Ek Genocidal Center’s staff.
- Shopping in the small souvenir shop (handicrafts, historical books …, etc.)
